    Thank you for this video! I am starting my sewing journey and have made a couple of tops from quilting cotton, but I was looking to learn more about fabric selection before investing in my next project. This is exactly what I was looking for and has great explanations!

    I thought you should always make your pillow cover a little smaller then the actual pillow so you have a nice plump pillow. You cut fabric 20-inch for an 8-inch pillow but only sold 1/2 inch on each side equaling a 19-inch pillow cover for an 18 inch square pillow

    • @HeatherHandmade
      @HeatherHandmade 10 дней назад

      You can make it smaller if you want or buy a bigger pillow to make it fluffier!

    Thank you. I'm off to shorten my sweater. I'm surprised you didn't mention using the differential feed on your machine to reduce the waviness. All good though.

    • @HeatherHandmade

      I don't think my machine has the differential feed! Only some sewing machines have that.

    • @ozicats
      @ozicats 11 дней назад

      @@HeatherHandmade That makes sense. I think mine has the ability to alter the feed dogs so that it works like differential feed. I must investigate that more. That means your changes are even more impressive. Well done and I do plan to alter some knee length 1980 woollen jumpers that I've been waiting to come back into fashion. They are too beautiful to throw away.

    Thanks for sharing ur knowledge with us. I'm just starting out with customizing t-shirts & I'm kinda new to the infusible ink paper. This video was informative cause u display different t-shirts using the infusible ink paper. I'm always curious on how long a design with infusible ink would last between washing it. I'm using my iron which is a bad idea for big projects. Definitely looking into a heat press like u have till i can afford a bigger heat press machine

    First I want to say, I really love this design! It’s so cute. I used the video and followed the written instructions on your blog post. There are a couple of things I think would be REALLY helpful for you to mention in your video. (1). How to insert the lining on the smaller pocket; (2) How to get your sewing machine to handle sewing in the D ring loops (mine WOULD NOT. I had to make the loops 3 inches by 1 inches and my machine was still iffy about the whole thing; (3) Tell viewers TO flip the D-rings and fabric loops IN before sewing the bag together. I sewed my D rings into the inside of the bag the first time and had to deconstruct it to repair. Also, the inner lining of my bag is not attached to the other, which is really weird, and I am still not sure what happened there. Thank you for sharing this design and lesson, I just think the process could have been explained more clearly. If the $5 pattern is much better explained, I would consider purchasing it, but I am wary the instructions may be equally as vague in important places. Please let me know.

    On the website instructions it says to cut 2 lining backs, 1 upper front and 1 lower front. However, on the body pattern piece it asks for 3 lining and also 1 lining for the upper and lower pattern pieces. Please could you clarify if I have a wasted lining piece or at what point it gets sewn on. Many thanks

      From the outer fabric: 1 back, 1 upper front, 1 lower front, and 1 strap. From the lining fabric: 2 back, 1 upper front, 1 lower front, 2 zipper tabs, and 2 loops. You don't need the thrid lining piece.

    The tutorial looks great; I have my measurements, but I'm having trouble visualizing where to place my markings on the folded fabric. Do I line up the length measurement along one edge of the fabric? Also, it looks like when you're talking about the radius, you're meaning the diameter - going by the example measurements on the pdf from your website. (I'm new-ish to sewing, and I'm autistic so it's really hard for me to visualize something without having it explained in excruciating detail - eek!)

    • @HeatherHandmade
      @HeatherHandmade 2 месяца назад

      I start by measuring the length from one selvedge and then from the cut edge. This will guide me as to where to put the center circle. Then I can measure the other measurements based off of the circle. Does that make sense?

    • @kv7393
      @kv7393 2 месяца назад

      Yes, that helps a little. In watching the video again (and again and again, so I'm sure! Lol), I see at 5:01 that the circle is flush with the length measure (where you sew the seam) and the part that narrows into the tie is actually cut out of the circle. So you don't end up having a circle cut out of the fabric. I think I get it! I'll try it today! 😃
